Brian Pogue unexpectedly went home to be with the Lord on May 28, 2023 due to cardiac arrest while working on the deck at his Sunriver home. He was born on November 25, 1952, in Astoria, Oregon to Lloyd and Helen (Larson) Pogue. His departure leaves behind a profound void in the lives of those fortunate enough to know him.
He married the love of his life, Peggy Crussell, in Atlanta, GA on September 3, 1975. Left to carry Brian’s legacy is his wife, Peggy, daughter Kimberly (Scott) Santos and sons Aaron (Emily) Pogue, Nathan (Chelsea) Pogue, and nine grandchildren, Tobin & Lana Santos, Graham, Audrey, Brooks, Lewis, Melvin, Henry and Elijah Pogue. He also leaves behind his brothers-in-law, Chris Rose and Joel Pratt, nephew, Matt Rose, nieces, Melissa (Mike) Schacher, Amber Nelson and Elke (Jeremy) Henry. He is predeceased by his parents, his sister, Terri Pratt, sister-in-law, Thelma Rose and stepmother, Harriet Pogue.
Brian’s unwavering commitment to family was met with boundless love and affection. His presence will be profoundly missed throughout the Northwest and beyond. He graduated from Astoria High School and furthered his education at the University of Oregon where he studied Political Science. He worked with Bumble Bee in Alaska and as a building contractor in Clatsop County for nearly 15 years, which ultimately launched him into ministry as the Director of Construction Ministries for Northwest Conservative Baptist Association where he helped build and remodel churches throughout the west coast. He was the developer and marketing director for Necanicum Village assisted living in Seaside while also developing and managing his own residential and commercial properties. He also served on the Clatsop County Planning Commission for several years.
In his early years, he enjoyed working on cars, old and new. He loved to watch his children and grandchildren play sports who will always remember the Blazer games he took them to, and the family traditions he built throughout the years. He was a relentlessly hard worker and visionary, and tried to instill those values in his family and those around him. Above all, he was a faithful member of North Coast Family Fellowship and a sanctified follower of Christ.
