Carol Johansen was born in Astoria, Oregon on February 12, 1949 to Fern E. (Cassady) Johansen and Arthur S. Johansen. Carol graduated from Lewis and Clark Elementary School in 1963 and Astoria High School in 1967. A lifetime resident of the area, Carol loved the North Oregon Coast and shared her smile and enthusiasm with everyone she met, and she met a lot of people. She was a licensed real estate broker and served on the board of directors of the Clatsop County Historical Society for several years. She was a member of the Assistance League of the Columbia Pacific and the North Coast Land Conservancy. She was the 1969 queen of the Scandinavian Midsummer Festival and remained active in that Association. She was always proud of her Norwegian heritage and as a local cruise ship host, easily connected with strangers, sharing the local history with them.
