Colleen (Coffey) Hansen of Astoria, OR passed away June 4, 2024.
Colleen was born Jan 11, 1945, in Hood River, OR. She graduated from Wy’East High School
and attended Portland State University. She met and married her husband Gerald “Jerry” Hansen
in 1971 and they resided in Astoria where they raised 2 children, Melissa and Jeremy Hansen.
Colleen was very close to her siblings, Max (Grayce) Coffey, Marilyn Jo (Earl) Hinkle, Sue
(José) Martinez and Mary Lois (Paul) Nicholson and adored her grandchildren, Seth, Joy, and
Skye Hansen and James, Emily, and Isaac Herzberg.
Colleen’s faith was very important to her, and her love of the Lord showed in all she did through
her laugh, kindness and generosity. People recall her sparkling personality from her 18 years
working at Fred Meyer in Warrenton. She enjoyed gardening and bringing things to life. She
also played in local softball leagues and once earned a tournament MVP award for a game
winning home run.
She was a member of the Rainland Flycasters Club and created a shad fly that was published in
the club book, “Northwest Fly Patterns & Tying Guide.” Her tying skills were amazing and
generously shared with her best friend and fishing partner, Barbara Price, and the rest of the fly-
fishing family. She was always willing to share her extensive expertise with anyone wanting to
learn the craft.
Colleen was preceded in death by her parents, Cliff and Lois Coffey, her husband Jerry Hansen,
sister-in-law Grayce and brother-in-law Earl.
There will be a drop-in coffee social in her honor at Warrenton community Center, July 20, 2024 from 1:30-4:30 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Lower Columbia Hospice would be appreciated.
