Connie Quinn Unzicker, 56, of Seaside, died on September 21, 2018, at Providence Seaside Hospital, after a long battle with Multiple Sclerosis. Connie (also called Quinn by friends) was born in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, on December 10, 1961, daughter of James L. and Sharon D. (Doane) Unzicker. She attended Sioux Falls schools, graduating from Lincoln High. She attended South Dakota State University for a year. Connies children were born when she lived in Rapid City: daughter Destiny and son Jordan. She cared for adults living with traumatic injury while living in Sioux City, Iowa. She also lived briefly in Minnesota, but drawn by Oregons Coast, she eventually settled in Seaside. She worked for the Oregon Youth Authority before her health forced retirement. She possessed a delightful sense of humor, made friends easily and remained devoted to them. She loved ocean beaches, playing "Words with Friends" and while following politics closely, critiqued political ignorance. She had joined a Bible study in recent months, possessed a strong artistic side, and oh, how her grandchildren brought her tremendous joy! Connie is survived by her significant other, Joseph Brown of Seaside, Oregon; daughter, Destiny (Jeff) Corkle, Joplin, Missouri; 2 grandsons: Jeffery "JC" and Jasper Corkle, of Joplin, and a granddaughter, Serenity Corkle, of Joplin; sister, Lynn Collins, Dallas, Texas; three brothers: Tom Unzicker, Baltimore, Maryland, Todd (Ellyn) Unzicker, Minneapolis, Minnesota and James (Leroy White Mountain) Unzicker, Olympia, Washington; and sister-in-law, Linda Offerdahl, The Villages, Florida. Survivors also include her favorite cousin, Jane Schneer, of McKinney, Texas, 8 other cousins, Aunt Diane (Chuck) Dold, Champaign, Illinois, Uncle Dick (Bonnie) Unzicker, Denison, Texas, 7 nephews, 3 nieces, 4 grand nephews, 3 grand nieces, and family friend, Bob Birch, of Cordova, Spain. Her son, Jordan Scull, preceded her in death, as did her father and mother, her stepmother, Rae E. Unzicker, brother, David F. Unzicker, grandparents, Edgar and Quincy Unzicker and Iola (Joe) Stafford, Aunt Ivena "Si" Crow, Uncle Dick and Aunt Margaret Doane, and brother-in-law, Randy Collins. Local friends of Quinn will gather on Tuesday, October 2, 2018, at 3:00 PM, at Suzanne Elise Assisted Living Community, 101 Forest Drive Seaside, OR, 97138. Planning is underway for a family reunion & "Celebration of Life" service in the Northwest next summer to memorialize the life of Connie Quinn Unzicker. In lieu of flowers the family has asked those wishing to make memorial contributions in Connie's name to the Multiple Sclerosis Society.
