David LeRoy Enslow

David LeRoy Enslow was the first child of Ben and Theda Enslow, born December 16th, 1943 in St. Petersburg Florida.

As a Military child, David lived in many locations throughout the US and Guam, setting in Astoria Oregon in 1957, attending Astoria High School, graduating in 1961. David joined the USAF in 1961. Assigned to the 641st AWRS, Melville AS, Goose Bay, Labrador. He ended his service at McChord AFB Pierce Washington in 1965. David returned to Astoria, beginning his career with Pacific Northwest Bell in August, 1966.

In 1965, David met Susan Marie Forrester at a phone booth in a parking lot, she was 17, David was 22. They were married on September 17, 1966. David's first child, Jeffrey Allen was born April 1, 1967, his second, Judy Lynn was born December 28, 1969, his third, Paula Marie was born July 14, 1971. David transferred to Portland in 1975, The family moved to Aloha in April, 1976. David and enjoyed hunting and amateur sports car racing, this was enjoyed by the whole family.

In 1996, nearing his 30 year retirement, David and Susan returned to Astoria and bought 25 acres. David enjoyed fishing and enjoyed gathering for lunch and attending plays. Retirement was good for David. He enjoyed a quiet life, socializing with friends and watching his children marry and start families of their own.

On March 24, 2017, Susan passed. David drew strength from his children, thought of selling the land and moving back to the city but knew the dream he and Susan shared was to live the rest of their lives on the land they bought together. With support from his youngest daughter and his son returning home in 2019, David continued to live the dream he and Susan shared.

The next several years were good. With support from his youngest daughter and his son being home again, David beautified the home and property, something he enjoyed and was proud of.

On the Evening of July 8,2023 while enjoying supper, David experience a heart failure, he was unable to be revived. David was cared for by Hughes Ransom and laid to rest with Susan at Willamette National Cemetery.

David is survived by his Brother Larry Dean, son Jeffrey Allen, daughter Judy Lynn, daughter Paula Marie, granddaughter Anne Marie, grandson Randall William, 4 great grandchildren and several "claimed" children and family.
