Betty M. Thomes Sollars, 93, died April 30, 2013 peacefully in her sleep.
She was born to Augusta and Manuel Sousa in Woburn, Massachusetts on February 13th, 1920. Betty spent the first part of her life in Massachusetts, moving to Seaside in 1969.
She worked as bank teller and a secretary for a real-estate company part-time. Betty was a working woman in the 50s and 60s when most women stayed home. She loved spending time with her family. She had pictures of all her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren in what she referred to as her picture gallery.
Bettys other passion was music and dancing. She was happiest when she was singing a song or dancing to the music. She was always happy, her saying was "if you can get up in the morning and walk and talk, then it is a sunny day."
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Joan and Bill Harding of Elsie, a son In-law, John Ryan of Astoria, daughter in-law Kathy Thomes Rhew of Gresham, 8 grandchildren, and 8 great grand children.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband Ralph J. Thomes, a daughter Shirley A. Ryan and a son Bruce G. Thomes.
A Celebration of Life will be held at The River of Life Fellowship Church, 1000 Avenue F, Seaside, Oregon on Saturday, May 11, 2013 at 2:00 PM.
Interment will follow at Ft. Stevens Cemetery in Warrenton. Hughes Ransom Mortuary, Seaside is in charge of arrangements.
