Evelyn May Smith

Evelyn M. (Leqve) Smith, 91, of Seaside, OR died Wednesday, April 19th in Seaside, OR. She was born December 1, 1925 in Rochester, MN to Sander and Lillian Leqve. She was raised on the family farm and graduated from Rochester High School in 1943. After the end of the WW II Evelyn met Arthur L. Smith in San Francisco CA. They married November 8, 1947 and resided in Yakima WA. In 1968 they move to Warrenton, OR and lived at Sunset Lake until Arthur's death in 2004. Evelyn then move to Vancouver, WA for a short time before returning to Seaside. She was a homemaker who loved to garden and will be remembered by all who knew her for her love of flowers. Also, she loved birds of all types and fed them daily until the day she passed. She made friends easily and will be missed by many. Evelyn was a member of the Columbia River Maritime Museum, and a past member of the Astoria, Oregon Golf and Country Club. Evelyn is survived by her brother Laverne and sister-in-law Judy Leqve of Pine Island MN, surrogate children Pamela and Michael Randall of Norfolk, England and her dear friends Gary and Jeanie Vasey of Seaside, OR. She was preceded in death by her husband Arthur L. Smith. Interment at Ocean View Cemetery in Warrenton, OR will be private. Remembrances may be made to the Columbia River Maritime Museum in care of Hughes-Ransom Mortuary at 220 N. Holiday Dr. Seaside, OR 97138 who are in-charge of the arrangements.
