Jessie Nancy Anna Simpson

Jessie Nancy Ann Simpson died March 25, 2015, at Legacy Emanuel Hospital in Portland, Oregon. She was born on June 25, 1939 in Astoria, Oregon, to John Birger and Jessie (Thorsen) Brandt Sr. Jessie graduated from Astoria High School in 1957. She played the trumpet and was active in the high school marching band, played the piano beautifully, and also worked on her father's fishing boat. After graduating high school she worked at St. Mary's Hospital in Astoria as a nurse's aide. Soon after she married George Simpson. They celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary in February 2015. They made their home in Astoria for a few years, then moved to Svenson, Oregon to raise their family of five children. Jessie's life and greatest joys revolved around her family. She was very proud of each of her children and grandchildren. Spending time with family is what she loved most. She loved visiting with people, enjoyed cooking and trying new recipes, gardening, and she loved her little dogs. Jessie is survived by her husband George Simpson of Svenson her five children, Michele (Warren), Michael (Carla), Daniel, Nancy, Mark (Heather); her grandchildren, Christopher, Cassie, Ty, Erich, Brittney, Jake, Justin, Olivia, Shamus, Isaiah, Emily, Alexa, Jasmine and Lily; her great grandchildren, Adalyn and James. As per Jessie's request there will be no funeral service. A private family graveside service will be held.
