Keith Vernon Larson, of Warrenton, died June 14, 2014. He was born March 9, 1948, to Vernon and Nancy Larson in Ilwaco, Washington. He grew up on the family farm in Rosburg, enjoying fishing, hunting and sports. Keith attended grade school in Rosburg and Naselle Grays River Valley Elementary School. He attended and graduated from Naselle High School in 1966. He was a three-sport athlete, participating in football, baseball and track. He continued playing football at Grays Harbor Community College for 2 years.
These were the years of military draft, and being 1A for the army, he enlisted in the Navy. He was trained as a cook. He was on a small supply ship, the USS Sylvania. They were based out of Norfolk, Virginia. He made numerous trips across the Atlantic Ocean, cruising in the Mediterranean Sea and North Sea.
He visited Barcelona where he met Sagrario (Sari) Benavides, who became his wife. They had a son, Kevin Larson of Astoria, now of Ketchikan, AK. Keith enjoyed refereeing basketball and softball. Keith was involved in the Astoria-Warrenton restaurant business, working at numerous locations. Sari preceded Keith in death in 1998.
Keith met and married Donna Larson. Donna had two children, Katrina and Jeremy, who live in Astoria. He enjoyed their family time.
Keith worked at Rod's Bar and Grill until he retired in December of 2013. He had numerous aches and limitations that restricted his mobility and reduced his comings and goings.
He found the TV remote to be a friend, being able to switch from one game to another, along with his favorite recliner chair. He will be missed for his quick wit and wealth of knowledge on many sports. No one was as good on the kitchen line with presentation of a meal.
He was preceded in death by his wife Sari, his dad Vernon and his mom Nancy Larson.
Keith is survived by his son, Kevin Larson; his wife, Donna Larson; stepchildren, Katrina and Jeremy; his brother, Royce (Cynthia) Larson of Chehalis, WA.; his grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
An inurnment was held Thursday, June 26, 2014, at Peaceful Hill Cemetery in Naselle, Washington.
