Martha Marie Hano, an Astoria resident since 1944, passed on Saturday, April 6th, peacefully in her sleep.
Martha was born July 24, 1924, in Mulino, OR, the daughter of Jacob and Sanna Harsila Tienhaara, and moved to Naselle, Wash., with her family when she was a child.
She married Earl Hano on January 29, 1944, who preceded her in death February 10, 1981.
Surviving are her two children; son Jeffery Hano, (Tara), Astoria, daughter Tresa Las Dulce, (Michael), Virginia; five grandchildren, Rebecca Deuel, (James), Olympia, Wash., Devin Las Dulce, Virginia, twins Cameron and Ravyn Hano, Astoria; two great-grandchildren, Kiley and Madison Deuel, Olympia, Wash.; one surviving sibling, Wayne Tienhaara, Dufur, OR; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Martha had twelve siblings who preceded her in death: brothers, Toivo, Jack, Onnie, Eino, Reino, Elmer and Oliver; sisters, Sanna, Grace, Lillian, Eva and Eleanor.
Martha was a proud Bumble Bee cannery worker; she faithfully attended the Bumble Bee Reunion in Astoria every year. She enjoyed collecting trinkets and knick knacks, which she called her treasures.
Martha was a beloved Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Aunt and friend to many. She will be sorely missed.
Memorial will be held Saturday, April 13th at 2:30 p.m. at Ocean View Cemetery. Following the service we will gather at 469 Bond St., Astoria, for a celebration of her life.
