Mary Elizabeth Rippet, 92, of Seaside, died Wednesday, August 15, 2012 in Seaside.
Mary was born March 23, 1920 in Oak Park, IL to Michael Henry and Elizabeth Anne (Berner) Sherry. She attended Portland area schools and graduated from Marylhurst College in 1940. On October 18, 1941 she married John E Rippet in Seaside. He preceded her in death in 2009.
Mrs. Rippet owned Dahlia Dairy and Larson-Dahlia Dairy with her husband, and was an elementary teacher in Vale. She retired in 1979.
Family members said she was a member of Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, Seaside Hospital Auxillary, Seaside Kids Inc. and Our Lady of Victory Womens Ministries. She enjoyed golf, bridge, reading, crossword puzzles and travel.
She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Ed and Betty Rippet of Seaside and Mike and Susan Rippet of Gardnerville, NV; three grandsons, Jeff Rippet of Seaside, Brian Rippet and wife Amy of South Lake Tahoe, NV, and Jim Rippet and wife Yi-Hua, of Portland; six great-grandchildren, Shaylie, Kyla, Aidan and Avi Rippet of South Lake Tahoe and Tessa and Ryan Rippet of Soap Lake, WA; and a great-great-grandchild, Adrian Rippet of Ephrata, WA. She was preceded in death by a grandson, John Aaron Rippet.
A Rosary was said August 17 at Hughes-Ransom Mortuary in Seaside. A funeral mass was held August 18 at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church in Seaside.
