Mary "Joan" Azinger, 76, of Astoria, died Wednesday, March 13, 2013, at Clatsop Care in Astoria.
She was born Aug. 19, 1936, in Paducah, Ky., to Elizabeth and William Hayden.
On April 14, 1961, she married Ray Azinger in Louisville, Ky. He survives, residing in Astoria. The couple moved to Clatsop County 14 years ago.
Joan loved singing. She was an extremely accomplished soprano, and sang professionally. She was always positive with a friendly warm smile, and loved life.
Joan was a member of Grace Episcopal Church and sang in the choir.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons, Eric Azinger of Mill Valley, Calif., and Matt Azinger of Allyn, Wash.; a granddaughter, Sara Knapp of Hayden, Idaho; a grandson, Brandon Azinger of San Francisco; a sister, Julia Cecil of Louisville; and a brother, Gus Hayden of Jacksonville, Fla.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Jenny Azinger, in 2006.
A memorial will be held at Grace Episcopal Church, 1545 Franklin Ave., Astoria, on Saturday, March 23rd, at 2:00 p.m.
