Merton Lee Meinicke died at home April 11, 2013, at age 96.
Mr. Meinicke was born September 2nd, 1916, in Madison, South Dakota. He taught mathematics at Cleveland High School in Portland, OR, for many years. After retirement, Merton and his wife, Helen, moved to Seaside, OR, where he enjoyed volunteering at their church, walking the dog, and eating all manner of sweets.
He was predeceased by his sister Mildred, twin brother Merle, first wife Virginia, sons James and Thomas. Survivors include his wife, Helen Meinicke, their daughter Lee Meinicke, his daughter Shirley Cutler, his son Jerald Meinicke, daughters-in-law Alice Meinicke and Christine Meinicke, Helens daughter Sara Smith and son Robert Smith, many grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
A Memorial Service will be held today, Monday, April 15th, at 2:00 p.m. at the Seaside United Methodist Church. A burial service for family and close friends in Portland, OR, will be held in September, 2013, at Riverview Cemetery.
