Patricia (Pat) Whitten passed away on May 15, 2023 at Clatsop Care Center in Astoria.
She was born October 5 1935 to Ralph and Lillian (Isack) Shaw in Portland, Oregon. She lived her life in Astoria, graduating from Astoria High School.
Pat married her husband, William (Bill) Whitten on May 29, 1958 in Astoria. They had been married 63 years when Bill passed away in October 2021.
She worked for Pacific Northwest Bell, initially as a phone operator, and later as a clerical worker for many years. When the company left Astoria, she worked at Columbia Memorial Hospital in the admitting department, until her retirement.
Pat and Bill raised their three children: Tami, Kerri and Bill Jr. in Astoria. She loved camping and accompanying Bill on hunting trips. Her hobbies included sewing, quilting, knitting and crocheting. When the kids were growing up, she was a brownie leader and 4-H leader and always stayed involved with the kids. For many years she was a member of the Astoria Anchor Club.
She is preceded in death by her father, Ralph; her mother, Lillian; her husband, Bill; and granddaughter Kera Hoagland.
Patricia is survived by her loving children, daughters Tami Temple (Arnie Odell), and Kerri Hoagland (Dean); son Bill Whitten Jr. (Cindy); as well as her grandchildren, Jacqueline Whitten, Taylor Temple (Sylvia Chin), Austin Temple (Tiara) and great grandchildren, Bethany & Oliver Temple; brother Mike Shaw (Linda) and nieces, nephews and extended family members and friends.
The family will arrange a private burial at a later date.
