Rebecca Ann Blunck, wife of Robert Blunck, passed away and went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, April 9, 2013 at the age of 72.
"Becky" was born in Walla Walla, Wash. to parents Christian and Mamie Schneider. She graduated from Ukiah Union High School (California) and married Bob Blunck on Sept. 23, 1960 in The Dalles. Bob and Becky raised son Russ and daughter Rhondel in Forest Grove and in Stevenson, Wash. before settling in Astoria, where her and Bob have lived for nearly 30 years.
Becky was extremely active at Shepard of the Hills Lutheran Church in Stevenson and at Peace Lutheran Church in Astoria. She led Bible studies and was a member of the missions committee and the Naomi Circle. She was deeply involved in the Main Street Tappers at the Maddox Dance Studio and had the privilege of sharing the stage for various dance events with daughter Rhondel and granddaughter Brooke.
Known as the "Cake Lady" in Stevenson, Becky made and decorated cakes for nearly everyone in Skamania County during her 16 years in the Gorge. She loved to sew, make quilts and knit prayer shawls. She doted on her loved ones, making every birthday and holiday a party. Every special day was a cause for celebration to Beckyshe treasured life and loved to make people feel special.
Rebecca Blunck is survived by her husband Robert of Astoria, son Russ Blunck (Maddie) of San Diego, daughter Rhondel Cloe (Brad) of Astoria, grandchildren Brodie Blunck (San Diego), Brendan Blunck (Corvallis), Brooke Cross (Astoria), Samuel Cross (Astoria) and many additional family members. She was preceded in death by her parents Christian and Mamie Schneider and by her step-father Dr. Bud Hinman.
A private family committal graveside service will be held on Saturday, April 20 at 11 a.m. at the Oceanview Cemetery in Warrenton, followed by a public celebration of life memorial and reception at Peace Lutheran Church in Astoria at 1 p.m. (565 12th Street).
