Rose Marie Rubio passed away February 22, 2015 at her home in Astoria, Oregon surrounded by her loved ones. She was born in National City, CA to Merced and Librada Castro. She grew up in Chula Vista, California with her four sisters and her three brothers. She married Ruperto Rubio in 1961 and for a short time they lived in National City, California. He preceded her in death on February 13, 1992. They also lived in San Diego, California, Phoenix, Arizona, El Paso, Texas, Memphis, Tennessee, and Tacoma Washington. In 1973, they moved to Astoria, Oregon. In 1981 Rose started working at Columbia Memorial Hospital as a diet aide. After 28 years of service she retired in 2007. Rose had many interests. She enjoyed gardening, shopping, clam digging, watching Novelas and being with family. She was especially known for her fabulous cooking and baking and enjoyed sharing the food she would make with people. She enjoyed being with family and always did whatever she could do to help her kids out when needed. She was an amazing Mother, Nana, aunt, and friend to many and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Rose is survived by four sons, Raul, Ralph, David Rubio all of Astoria, Oregon. A son; Andy Rubio of Vancouver, Washington. A daughter and son in law; Reenie and Ryan Palmberg of Portland, Oregon. Four grandkids; Matthew Rubio of Corvallis, Oregon; Olivia Palmberg of Portland, Oregon; Rudy and Rachel of Astoria, Oregon. Three sisters; Norma Castro, Martha Garcia, and Ortensia Jauregui all from Chula Vista, California. Three sister in laws, Soledad Castro of Tacoma, Washington, Maria Alonso of New Jersey, and Martha Garcia of Chula Vista, California and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a sister Charlotte Lopez, three brothers, Merced Castro, George Castro, and David Castro. Services for Rose will be on Saturday, February 28, 2015 Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be at 11:00 AM; Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:30 AM, St. Mary Star of The Sea Catholic Church Astoria, Oregon.
