Sally Lynn Henry

8/3/1953-11/3/2024

Our beloved Sally Lynn Henry passed away Sunday, 11/3/24, and is on her way to see Jesus and her loved ones, who were keeping her spot in heaven warm.

Sally was born 8/3/1953 in Portland Oregon, three months premature, the second daughter of William (Bill) and Sally Rea. Her first few weeks was spent in one of the first incubators in the city at St Vincent’s Hospital.

Sally met the love of her life, Tom in 1971 at The Job Corp Center in Portland and the attraction was instantaneous. They married and had two handsome sons, Jon and Ben. They raised their family on the coast split between Gearhart, Seaside, Cannon Beach and Astoria.

Between times of being a stay at home mom, she held many jobs as housekeeping, motel maid, waitressing, and clerking at The Picnic Basket. Her favorite job of all time was as a preschool teacher at Tolovana.

She loved every child as her own and also had a huge influence on her young grandchildren, who called her Wongy.

Sally is survived by her beloved husband Tom, sons Jon (Jolain), Ben (Lesley), grandchildren James, Jewel, Tyler, Benjamin, Abigail, Shelby and Logan. Great grandchildren Elyon and Gem, sisters Kim, Terry, Pam (Ken), and Daisy, brother Larry (Cindy), and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Sally is preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Sally Rea, niece Sara Schmidt, brother-in-law Bill Henry, and in-laws Margie and Bill Henry.

Sally loved all animals, and they naturally loved her back. She couldn’t pass a dog without petting it. Her last pet of eighteen years was Rozzie, her beautiful calico cat.

Sally was a kind-hearted and generous person to everyone. No one was a stranger. You had to be careful of admiring anything, or she would give it to you as you walked out her door.

A private service for immediate family will be held at her home.

A Celebration of Life will be held on her birthday, August 3, 2025.
