Sheila Irene Teague

December 28, 1943 — June 1, 2024

Astoria

Sheila Irene Teague, 80, of Astoria, Oregon, went to be with the Lord on June 1, 2024.

Sheila was born to Larry and Irene Peterson on December 28, 1943, in Cathlamet, Washington, the oldest

of six children. After the family lived in Washington, Oregon, and California, they settled back in Astoria

when she was 15. Sheila graduated from Astoria High School in 1962.

Sheila met Ron Teague at Lewis and Clark Bible Church as teenagers. Prior to Ron's deployment to

Korea, Sheila took a cross-country train trip to Alexandria, Virginia, where they were married June 12,

1963.

Starting in 1965, Sheila and Ron had five children - Tim, Terry, Debbie, Tom, and Ron. In addition to

cherishing her role as a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Sheila loved volunteering her time

to her church and community in many different ways.

Sheila was a long-time member of Lewis and Clark Bible Church, serving for nearly 70 years as a

deaconness, mentor, choir director, florist, and decorator. She enjoyed managing programs for kids like

Awana, VBS, Good News Club, and childrens church, and supervising at Christian Academy.

She was involved in Clatsop County Fair for most of her life, from animal show, to floral intake, to food

coordination. She assisted with the Miss Oregon and Miss Clatsop County Pageants, and served as a

leader in the TOPS program.

Sheila enjoyed attending her grandkids' school and sports events, cheering them on as one of the oldest

Fishermen Fanatics. She made treats for students going to state tournaments and even kept score in her

own notebook. She was a grandmother to many.

Sheila found community wherever she was and touched many lives in the Clatsop area.

Driving much of her activities was her love of music. Sheila participated in glee clubs, quartets and trios,

and was asked to sing at weddings and funerals by many friends and families. She sang with her sisters at

church often. Music was an integral part of her ministry and helped define her own spiritual life.

Sheila is preceded in death by her parents and her brother Larry (Pete) Petersen. She is survived by her

husband Ron; five children - Tim (Jamie), Terry (Laurie), Tom (Michelle), Ron (Corina) Teague and

Debbie (Cary) Coggins ; four sisters - Vicki (Greg) Adkison, Chris Sagen, Bonnie (Grant) Seal, and Paula

(Eric) Schmidt; 10 grandchildren - Kayla Nored (Levi), Tyler Teague, Jason Teague, Joey Teague, Jamie (Dan
