Stacy Alan Powell

December 23, 1967 — August 6, 2024

Seaside

Well, it’s finally happened. It’s funny how we don’t always get what we want out of life, but I tell you what, I may not have gotten everything I wanted, but I sure had a great one. I knew it was going to happen one day, and I always told everyone, when it’s your turn, it’s your turn and crazily enough my turn came on the 6th of August 2024. Aww, don’t be sad for me! My earthly struggles are over, I don’t have to worry about if the power is going to go out, if I paid my phone bill, who owes me money or if I owe money to someone else. They can have it; I can’t take it with me. I know you will miss me, and you know what, I will be waiting to meet you when you get here, so until then, live a great life, one day at a time, and love with grace and forgiveness.

I was born Stacy Alan Powell on the 23rd of December 1967 at Eureka General Hospital, in Eureka, California to David W. Powell and Mildred C. Powell (Charlton). I am the second born child of four siblings, my oldest brother Dave (Wendy), my middle sister Anglia (Mark), my baby sister Susan (Mike). I have two Uncles, Blaine (Jerry Ann), Uncle Jerry (Rhonda) and my Aunt Susan (Greg). There is no doubt in my mind that I have frustrated all of them at some point over the years, but one thing I can say that is true, is that they have always been there when I needed them the most. I loved every one of my nieces, Karen, Kayla, Katie, Stephanie, Kristen and Isabella and nephews, James, Thomas, Mathew, Chase, Jordan, Michael, Cameron, Zachary and Steven. It has always been a joy to spend time with them as I never had any children of my own, at least that I know of! I loved all my cousins from the Charlton Clan, Robert, Windy, Tyler, Teressa, Alex, Brooke, Jadea, the Stoneham Clan, Greg Jr. and Shane, and every one of my cousins from the Miller Clan, let me tell you, there is a bunch of them.

I married Maunena Goebel (Giesy) on the 6th of June 2008 in Vancouver Washington. We lived in Seaside, Oregon and Astoria Oregon with our puppies. We had a good life along the Sea. Some of those times were tough, other times joyful, but we never quit, and I always loved spending time with my wife Maunena and my father-in-law Kurt who unfortunately passed before me, but I plan to go see him and my Grandparents as soon as I can get myself sorted out. I loved crabbing and fishing around Astoria and Seaside and spending my time listening to the waves crash against the shore or as they slapped the boat while out to sea and sitting at home watching NASCAR and my favorite driver, #16 Greg Biffle!

Salmon and Steelhead fishing was one of my favorite hobbies, and fishing the rivers of Idaho, Washington and Oregon was always a thrill. I caught some whoppers, and some of those whoppers grew even bigger long after the fish had been eaten.

My family has always been my priority, whenever I got in trouble or was celebrating a life event, especially the day I got married, they were the first ones I called. I tried to call my mom several times a week to check on her, or speaking to my baby sisters Anglia and Susan, (although I called Susan - Brandy) and calling my brother Dave to see how he was doing in school getting educated. I was proud of them all and loved them to the end.

I worked my whole life fixing things, working with my hands. I loved to build and work outside. I did a lot of construction work around Idaho, Oregon and Washington, some of those retaining walls and water features built for the States are still working. As a young kid, I would take things apart, sometimes they went back together and worked and sometimes they didn’t, I am sure my siblings remember the family movie projector I took apart and had extra parts for. I was as surprised as everyone else it didn’t work when we plugged it in. With every failure comes success later, as we learn from those mistakes.

I made a lot of money over time and spent a lot of money over time, and sometimes I had no money, but that didn’t stop me from living, nope, those days were for living. As they say, you can’t take it with you. I went to several schools and did my last semester at Kuna High School in Idaho before joining the US Army reserves as a Cavalry Scout, for those of you who don’t know what that is, I plan to tell you – I acted as the eyes and ears on the field of Battle, gathering intelligence and advising the Commander. I am a proud Veteran and proud of my family members who served and those that served before, during and after me.

I have been over the western half of the country and fell in love with the Pacific Northwest. I never wanted much, and just like everyone else, all I ever wanted was to be happy, and for those I cared about most, to be happy and successful. I have had a great life looking back, the road was rough at times, and not always did I take the hard road. That easy road was a draw and that can get you in trouble, listen up, I am talking from experience. I changed my path, got on a good road and had some smooth riding right up until that road ended. So, I bid you all a see you later. Look out for each other and know that one day, we can all go fishing together again.
