Virginia M. Carlson, 80, of Astoria, died Sunday, Feb. 17, 2013, in Astoria.
She was born April 30, 1932, in Warrenton, to Hans W. and Vesta P. (Thompson) Brons.
On Oct. 22, 1948, she married James A. Carlson in Kelso, Wash. He survives, residing in Astoria.
Mrs. Carlson was a homemaker.
Family member said she set the standards very high for those following in her footsteps. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, sewing, baking, shopping, cooking, needlepoint and using a computer.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Beverly and Ron Tiedemann of Tigard and Kathy and Ron Guttridge of Wilsonville; two sisters, Vesta Eggleston of Warrenton and Joyce Starr of Washougal, Wash.; a brother, Fred Brons of Newberg; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by four sisters; and three brothers.
A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 22, at the Hughes-Ransom Mortuary Astoria Chapel, 576 12th St.
Private interment will be at Ocean View Cemetery in Warrenton.
