William David Dunaway 

Born April 18, 1958 passed away May 24, 2024 in Astoria Oregon

William was born in Tampa Florida to parents James Dunaway and Betty Jo Fountain (Jackson). While William was born in Tampa, he spent most of his childhood Plant City, Florida. 

October 7, 1978 William Dunaway and Debra Garber married in National City, California. 

William entered the U.S. Navy in 1976 and went on to have a 21-year military career. He retired as an E-6 Hull Tech. He was in Desert Storm, the Gulf War, worked on many ships, and received many metals and honors. 

In 1997 William and Debra settled in Svensen(Astoria), Oregon. In his retirement years, William enjoyed hunting, fishing, and traveling. He also loved time spent with his family which included his 4 children. His oldest son Keith Dunaway (Nikki) that live in Pasco, WA. His second oldest son Kraig Dunaway (Julie) that live in Ocala Florida. His third son Kristopher Dunaway that lives in Svensen, OR. His fourth son Kevin Dunaway (Kaara) that live in Warrenton, OR. William also enjoyed spending time with his 12 grandchildren, Shawnee, Keith (Alyson), Issak, Kaystyn, Kasadie, Kindall, Josiah (Ella), Karter, Karinda, Alyson, Owen, and Catherine. He also had 5 wonderful great grandchildren, Evynessah, Elliana, Ira, Harper, and Aiyla. 

William also enjoyed spending time with Chris and Katlyn Ball and their 3 children, Morgan, Heidi, and Armon who became family over the years. 

William is survived by his sister, Denise Lenk of Ruskin, Florida. His brother, Raymond Cheshire of Florida. He is preceded in death by his mom Betty Jo, his father James, and his brother Ralph. 

A Memorial service will be held for William on May 3, 2024 at 11am at The Fort Stevens Veterans National Cemetery. Celebration of life will follow the service at 1-4pm at Svensen Grange located at Market Road and old Hwy 30, Svensen, OR. This will be a potluck gathering, all are welcome. 

Memorial donations can be made in Williams honor to small cell lung cancer research.
