Seaside legend, William “Tumwater Bill” Howsden died the evening of December 26, 2023 at age 69. Bill was a very strong minded man that did not want to let go until he finally felt rested with family by his side and went in peace. Bill was born August 21, 1954 in Hayward, California to Woodrow and Ethel Howsden. Prior to dedicating his life as a well-known Seaside landlord Bill worked in construction. He moved to Seaside in 1989 where he found and purchased his diamond in the rough property, which would be famously known as Tumwater Cottages, becoming his livelihood and legacy while living the dream at the beach. Bill enjoyed camping, spending time with his family, riding his Harley
as a dedicated member of the Seaside American Legion Riders and keeping very busy with his rental properties. Bill is proceeded in death by his parents Ethel and Woodrow Howsden, first wife, Maryanne Howsden, mother of his children, Jeanie Hardy, and sister, Darlene McGregor. Bill is survived by his three children, Krista, Raquel, and Eric Howsden, along with their spouses and numerous grandchildren, brother, John Howsden and spouse and sister, Dorene Williams, whom will all miss him dearly.
